Hajduk and HDTV: Free Football Spectacle or Marketing Trick?

Hajduk Split has decided to offer free access to its dedicated HDTV channel on the Maxtv platform throughout July, which sounds like a dream come true for all the club’s fans. During their training camps in Slovenia and Split, Hajduk will play several friendly matches, including games against CSKA Sofia, Radomlje, and Austrian LASK, all of which will be available on HDTV. However, the match against CSKA Sofia is not included in the free offer unless the channel is activated immediately, meaning a proportional fee for June will be charged. This move comes at a time when Croatian football is in the spotlight due to a record TV rights deal worth nearly 60 million euros, sold by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) for the next five years. Croatian Telekom and Supersport are the main players in this deal, and Hajduk is the first club in Europe to have its own club TV channel broadcasting live top-league matches. While this sounds like a big deal for fans, the question remains whether free HDTV is a genuine gift or just a clever marketing ploy to attract new subscribers. Either way, Hajduk fans now have the chance to follow their team without extra costs throughout July, which is certainly better than nothing. But will this move really boost viewership and support for the club, or will it all boil down to another marketing trick? Hajduk and Croatian Telekom are ready to prove it. What do you think? Is it really free or just another way to squeeze money out of you? Feel free to drop a comment and share your thoughts — maybe together we’ll uncover the real truth behind HDTV!
