Identification of Victims from Petrovačka Dola Mass Grave: The Dark Secret of the Homeland War

Petrovačka Dola Mass Grave: Who’s Hiding the Dark Truth of the Homeland War?

Today, at the National Memorial Hospital Dr. Juraj Njavro in Vukovar, two more victims exhumed from the Petrovačka Dola mass grave were identified. These are the remains of Tomislav Plavšić and Franjo Ivoš, brutally taken and killed during the war, just like many others.

This grave, once a waste disposal site, is now a place of horrific crimes. So far, remains of 35 people have been identified, including 19 Croatian defenders and 16 civilians, among them four women. The investigation continues, but perpetrators are trying to cover their tracks by dumping garbage and waste at the site.

Chief State Prosecutor Ivan Turudić emphasizes that the search for perpetrators is the least we can do for the victims. However, the investigation is hindered because Serbia does not comply with requests for cooperation.

This is not just a story of the past but an injustice that continues today. As identifications proceed, the question remains: how many more secrets does Petrovačka Dola hide? And while justice is slow, the victims’ families still wait for answers.

If you think this is just another war story, think again. This is a fight for truth, justice, and memory. What about you? How many more truths do you think are waiting to be uncovered? Share your thoughts — maybe your voice will help justice shine through the darkness of oblivion.
