From 2026, Spain replaces safety triangles with flashing lights.

Starting from January 1, 2026, in Spain, the classic safety triangle will no longer be allowed on highways and fast roads. Instead, drivers will use a special V16 flashing light, which provides visibility up to one kilometer and remains noticeable in difficult weather conditions. The light is connected to the mobile network, automatically sending the vehicle’s location to the Spanish Traffic Directorate and emergency services, speeding up the response in case of an accident.
