The State Has Fallen: Scandals and Threats in Zaječar Reveal the True Face of Electoral Mafia

Imagine a country where elections are not just about counting votes, but a full-blown mafia soap opera! Welcome to Zaječar, where the state has fallen, and justice seems to be on vacation. Dragana Rašić, the leader of the opposition list “Change We Believe In,” openly states that the decision of the City Election Commission (GIK) in Zaječar to reject all 69 complaints from the opposition was expected but shameful. The Higher Court has already overturned a previous GIK decision, but the commission seems unwilling to acknowledge the blatant irregularities.

These irregularities are no small matter — we’re talking about vote buying and selling, people voting with fake residency, and about 30 such cases uncovered. Although the case is supposedly with the Higher Prosecutor’s Office in Niš, Rašić claims she has received no response from the police regarding threats sent to her via Instagram — threats so brutal they could be straight out of a horror movie: “You disgusting scum, bitch, what else do you want besides destroying the state? You’ll get what you deserve, terrorist!”

This isn’t just a political fight; it’s a war between good and evil, says Rašić. Local elections in Zaječar showed the opposition can win up to 35% of the vote — something never seen before. But instead of acknowledging this, the authorities play dirty games and ignore justice. Rašić calls for opposition unity and creating a referendum-like atmosphere for change because, as she says, “we haven’t had a state for a long time.”

As tensions rise and threats continue, the question remains — how far will this go? Will justice ever win in Zaječar, or will we watch the state slowly fall into the hands of those destroying it from within? If you have thoughts on this election drama, feel free to drop a comment — maybe your word will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back!
