After years of promises, the construction of a public toilet has finally begun in the center of Banja Koviljača, one of Serbia’s most popular spas that has long needed such a facility. The building will cover 77 square meters, with the construction cost at 14.9 million dinars including VAT. The deadline for completion is November 15 this year, but it is expected to be finished earlier.
This move by the Loznica city administration has been welcomed by both spa visitors and local residents, as the public toilet will be very useful not only for tourists but also for the inhabitants of the royal spa town. Until now, there was only one public toilet in the center of Loznica, built at the end of the reconstruction of the central Vuk Karadžić square.
Can you believe it took so many years to solve such a basic problem? While cities around the world strive to improve their public infrastructure, Banja Koviljača has only now gotten the green light for a public toilet. With a price tag of nearly 15 million dinars, one wonders if that’s too much for a toilet or just proof of how desperately it was needed.
Either way, citizens and tourists can breathe a sigh of relief — soon they won’t have to scramble looking for a place to relieve themselves in the spa center.
