Ready for a story that sounds straight out of an action movie? In Serbia, suspects have been arrested and questioned for plotting a violent overthrow of the government! The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade revealed that Ivan M., Novica A., Branko M., Aleksandar I., Vidan K., and Srđan G. planned to violently topple the state order. And not just that – two of them were caught with illegal weapons!
It all started on June 21st at a hotel in Kraljevo where they met and agreed they wouldn’t go home until they “killed or destroyed” representatives of state institutions. Yes, you read that right! They planned to storm the Government building of Serbia, attack police officers, and violently break into media houses like Radio Television Serbia, Hepi, and Informer.
On June 25th, police stopped a Škoda car driven by Ivan M. and found a CZ pistol with a filed serial number and ammunition. At Branko M.’s home in Kragujevac, a rifle and a large amount of bullets were found.
Although all suspects denied the charges, the prosecutor’s office proposed detention to prevent them from committing the crime again. This story casts a dark shadow over Serbia’s security and shows the serious challenges the country faces.
