Wimbledon and Dušan Lajović: Drama in the Qualifying Final!
Serbian tennis player Dušan Lajović failed to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon after losing in the qualifying final to Frenchman Arthur Cazaux with a score of 3-6, 2-6, 3-6, 6-4 in a match that lasted nearly three hours — exactly two hours and 59 minutes.
The first set was a real tennis thriller with two breaks on each side, decided by a tiebreak that Lajović managed to win. However, the Frenchman quickly retaliated and easily took the second set with two breaks, while Lajović lost his serve. In the continuation of the match, Cazaux dominated and ultimately deservedly won.
The day before, Lajović showed great form and reached the qualifying final by defeating another Frenchman, Arthur Bouquier, 2-0 in sets (6-2, 6-4) in a match lasting one hour and 10 minutes. In that match, Lajović made two breaks in the first set and one in the second, which was enough for victory.
This season marks Lajović’s third Grand Slam in a row where he fought for a spot in the main draw, but unfortunately, Wimbledon remained out of reach this year. Although ranked higher on the ATP list, he couldn’t confirm that form in London.
This loss surely stings but shows how fierce the competition in tennis is. Will Lajović come back stronger next year? Only time will tell.
So, what do you think? Is this the end of Lajović’s chances at big tournaments or just another hurdle on his path? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s optimistic and who’s not!
