Gendarmerie – The Backbone of Our Internal Security!
At the celebration of the Gendarmerie Day of the Republic of Serbia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić did not hold back his praise for this elite unit. “The members of the Gendarmerie are a solid guarantee of our internal security and stability, and that will remain so for years to come,” Dačić declared at the Diving Unit base in New Belgrade.
Vidovdan – A Day with Special Weight
Dačić emphasized that the Gendarmerie Day is not just an ordinary date but a symbol of centuries of struggle, suffering, and pride of the Serbian people. “Vidovdan is a day that carries freedom, honor, and homeland. It is no coincidence that this day was chosen as the day of your unit,” the minister said, recalling the Kosovo heroes and linking them to today’s guardians of order and peace.
More Than a Job – A Calling and Duty
“Being a member of the Gendarmerie is not just a job, but a calling that requires courage, knowledge, and loyalty,” Dačić stressed. “Where it is hard, you go. Where there are no solutions, you create space for people to live peacefully, for the law to prevail, and for Serbia to be stable.”
Remembering Heroes and Sacrifices
The minister particularly highlighted the importance of remembering those who gave their lives for the country’s security. “Their names are not just numbers in statistics but eternal comrades and heroes whose sacrifice must not be forgotten.”
Family and Unity
Gendarmerie Commander Saša Kosović thanked the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the police for their support, emphasizing that unity and a sense of belonging are the greatest strengths of this unit. “The Gendarmerie is the backbone of security, a guarantee of order and peace, always ready to respond to any challenge,” Kosović said.
The State Stands Behind You
Dačić promised continued equipping and improvement of working conditions for Gendarmerie members. “The state counts on you and is proud of you. Serbia cannot be safe if you are not safe,” the minister concluded.
If you thought this was just another boring speech, think again! This unit is the real backbone of our security, and Dačić made it clear the state will keep supporting them.
