Just when you think summer is the time to enjoy nature, the citizens of Novi Pazar get a shock! Their favorite picnic spot, Borići, where they seek relief from the heat, has turned into a wild dump. Trash is scattered all over the ground, plastic bags hang from trees, and the sights are so disgusting that even the toughest environmentalist would cry.
Why? Because there are no trash bins! Yes, you read that right. This popular spot doesn’t have a single trash container, so garbage piles up day after day. Citizens have appealed to the authorities to finally install bins, but also sent a message to visitors — don’t use the absence of bins as an excuse to litter. Take your trash with you and dispose of it properly!
But is that enough? Nope! People still leave trash as if it’s their private dump. And while nature suffocates under plastic bags, families with kids keep coming to cool off, but instead of fresh air and greenery, they get scenes that make you want to gag.
This isn’t just a Novi Pazar problem. Similar scenes are seen all over Serbia and the region, where public spaces turn into wild dumps because people don’t want to put in any effort. And the authorities? They wait for the problem to fix itself or for someone to finally raise their voice.
Imagine this — a place that should be a peaceful oasis of nature has become an eyesore. All because of irresponsibility and neglect.
If you’re sick of these scenes, maybe it’s time to ask yourself — what can we do as individuals? Or will we just keep whining and watch our nature die?
What about you? Have you seen scenes like this in your town? Or maybe you have your own recipe for fighting trash? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s up for action and who’s just full of excuses!
