Who would have thought George Russell of Mercedes would blow everyone away at the first practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix! At the Red Bull Ring, Russell clocked the fastest lap, leaving reigning world champion Max Verstappen and the rest in the dust. Mercedes is finally showing its teeth, and Russell delivered a lap to remember!
Verstappen came in second, just a few tenths of a second behind, while McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Alex Dun took third and fourth places. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the top six.
This first practice is just the warm-up. The second practice kicks off today at 5 PM, with qualifying on Saturday. The race is set for Sunday at 3 PM, and we all know it’s going to be intense!
Mercedes is clearly ready to fight back, and Russell isn’t messing around. Will Verstappen defend his title, or will Mercedes finally reclaim the throne? We can’t wait to find out!
