Fires in Serbia: Forests Burning While We Keep Lighting Fires Like There’s No Tomorrow!

🔥 Serbia is burning, and we just keep lighting fires! Did you know that in the first six months of this year, firefighters responded to hundreds of fire incidents? Yes, you read that right! Although last year saw 20% more fires than this year, interventions on roads have jumped by over 50%! How is it possible that people still don’t get how dangerous it is to light fires outdoors?

🌡️ Summer heat and air conditioners running non-stop are NOT the main culprits for fires. It’s human carelessness and irresponsibility! The law is clear: burning crop residues, garbage, and plant waste in open areas is strictly forbidden and punishable by fines up to 1,000,000 dinars for legal entities and 100,000 dinars for individuals! But apparently, few care.

🚒 Aleksandar Rakić, commander of the firefighting battalion in Valjevo, urges citizens to be careful, not to throw cigarette butts or leave lit matches in nature. “Any carelessness can lead to a disaster that threatens us all!” warns Rakić.

🌲 Rural areas, once cultivated fields, are now overgrown with dry grass and shrubs, making them tinderboxes. Older residents there must be extra cautious with open flames.

👮‍♂️ The Emergency Situations Sector announces increased inspections and prosecution of irresponsible citizens. But will that be enough to stop this fiery plague?

🔥 Think this is just another fire story? Think again! Every fire means destroyed nature, endangered lives, and huge costs for firefighters and the state. All because of carelessness and irresponsibility.

💬 What about you? Have you ever seen a fire caused by carelessness? Or maybe you’ve been careless yourself? Share your stories, because clearly, we need a bit more sense and a lot less burning across Serbia!
