Phoenix Trades Serbian Basketball Star Vasilije Micić to Charlotte!

While our 3×3 heroes shine at the World Cup, real drama unfolds in the NBA! Vasilije Micić, one of the best Serbian basketball players, is changing teams again. Phoenix decided to trade him to Charlotte, after already sending him there in early February.

American media report that Phoenix used the option to extend Micić’s contract for another year, worth $8.1 million, just to be able to trade him. Charlotte received Liam McNeilly and the 29th pick of the 2022 NBA draft, Mark Williams, who moved to Phoenix.

Before the NBA, Micić played for Oklahoma, Efes, Žalgiris, Tofaş, Crvena zvezda, Bayern, and Mega. Now he’s at a crossroads—will he stay in the NBA or buy out his contract and continue his career in the EuroLeague? Anything is possible, and we’ll be watching every move.

This saga around Micić shows how unpredictable the NBA scene is, but also how sought-after and valued our players are. Will Vasa finally find peace in a club or surprise us again? Time will tell.

Meanwhile, enjoy the spectacle at the 3×3 World Cup and remember—Serbian basketball is on the rise, not only on the traditional court but also in the fastest and most exciting game format!
