Plazma Youth Sports Games: Is This the Most Important Sports Event for Kids in Serbia?

Did you know that the last, fourth regional final of the 12th season of the Plazma Youth Sports Games in Serbia was held in Niš? Hundreds of boys and girls from all over Serbia gathered to show what fair play, tolerance, and true sportsmanship mean. These games are not just competitions; they are a real school of life for elementary school kids. From Kuršumlija to Kraljevo, children competed in 60-meter sprints, volleyball, 3×3 basketball, mini football, and much more. Winners earned a spot in the national final in July, and then the international final in Split in August.

These games have been running for 29 years and have involved over 3 million participants across Serbia. Besides sports competitions, children take part in educational workshops on environmental protection and anti-bullying campaigns. The event is supported by famous athletes and global institutions like the IOC, UEFA, FIDE, and FIBA, as well as companies like Coca-Cola, Telekom Srbija, and Dunav Insurance.

But let’s be honest — how many of us really know about these games? While kids strive to be the best, does society and the media appreciate this phenomenon enough? This is not just sports; it’s an investment in Serbia’s future! If you think sports are only for professionals, think again. These games prove that real champions are born young, with fair play and friendship.

While Niš celebrates sport and unity, maybe it’s time for you to think about how you support young talents in your city. Or will you stay on the bench again? If you have a funny or inspiring sports moment from your childhood, share it in the comments — maybe you’ll inspire a future champion!
