Scandal on the Court: Serbia at the Bottom of Nations League, Coach Kreću Announces Squad for Second Round
Serbia, once a proud volleyball powerhouse, currently sits dead last, 18th place, in the Nations League with a measly three points. Yes, you read that right – just three points! While other teams fight for the top, our guys are struggling to keep up. And all this is happening on home soil at the Belgrade Arena, where from June 25 to 29, they will host Group C of the second week of the Nations League.
Coach Kreću and his roster – salvation or disaster?
George Kreću, the head coach of the Serbian men’s volleyball team, has finally announced the player list for this crucial part of the competition. The roster includes setters Vuk Todorović and Matija Milanović, opposites Dražen Luburić and Dušan Nikolić, liberos Vukašin Ristić and Stefan Negić, blockers Aleksandar Nedeljković, Nemanja Mašarulić, Aleksandar Stefanović, and Vladimir Gajović, as well as receivers Marko Ivović, Veljko Mašarulić, Nikola Brborić, and Vuk Kulpinac.
But is this lineup enough to pull Serbia out of the mud? Although FIVB allows registering 14 players and 4 reserves, and the team lineup can be changed before each match, the question remains if this will be enough against Iran, Cuba, Argentina, and Germany – opponents that are no walk in the park.
Tough group and an even tougher task
Serbia’s first match is tomorrow at 8 PM against Iran. Then comes Cuba on Thursday at the same time, Argentina on Saturday, and Germany on Sunday. All matches kick off at 8 PM, meaning our guys have just a few days to prove themselves and improve their disastrous record.
Where did old Serbia go?
We used to watch a team that dominated, won medals, and put on a show. Today? At the bottom of the table, with players struggling to find form and a coach trying to piece together a mosaic from the available players. Is this the end of an era or just a rough patch? Time will tell.
Conclusion: time to wake up!
If Serbia wants to get back on top, it must find a solution fast. Will it be a new coach, new players, or just stronger willpower? We’ll see. But one thing is clear – fans don’t deserve to watch their team at the bottom.
So, what do you think about this roster and Serbia’s chances in the Nations League? Is it time for a revolution or a little more patience? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s on which side!
