If you thought driving in Montenegro was easy and stress-free, think again! The Auto-Moto Association of Montenegro (AMSCG) has just announced that traffic on many key roads across the country is in total chaos due to numerous construction works, bans, and closures. From Cetinje to Plužine, from Đurđevića Tara to Podgorica, drivers face total traffic stoppages, alternating one-lane traffic, and bans on trucks over 7.5 tons lasting from May to September.
Imagine this: on regional road R10 between Đurđevića Tara and Mojkovac, at the Sokolovina spot, traffic is completely stopped due to landslides and critical point repairs. On R16 near Plužine, traffic is closed at certain times for road resurfacing. Main roads M2 and M3 operate with alternating one-lane traffic due to works, while on M6 near Pljevlja and Žabljak, traffic regime changes and occasional closures occur due to landslide repairs.
Bans on trucks over 7.5 tons on major main and regional roads last from May 9 to September 15, between 7 AM and 10 PM, further complicating transport and business. Buses, campers, and special vehicles are also affected by bans on certain sections.
AMSCG urges drivers to obey traffic rules, especially speed limits, as traffic frequency is increased and driving conditions are difficult. Traffic centers are on alert 24/7, but it’s clear that summer on Montenegrin roads will be a nightmare for anyone daring to hit the road.
If you thought traffic jams and roadworks were only in big cities, think again — the whole country is one big construction site! And while authorities try to fix critical points and improve roads, drivers wonder: how much more of this traffic madness can we endure?
So, if you’re already stuck in a jam or waiting at a closure, drop a comment below and share your traffic horror stories — maybe we can at least laugh together at this Montenegrin traffic soap opera!
