Scandalous Political Party Financing in Montenegro: Millions from the State Treasury Without Oversight!

Did you know that political parties in Montenegro treat the state budget like their personal ATM? Yes, you read that right! The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) raked in a whopping 12 million euros recently, with 7.44 million coming straight from the state treasury and another 3.59 million from local budgets. And that’s not all — their total expenses hit nearly 14 million euros! Salaries, campaign financing, other costs — all paid from the pockets of ordinary citizens. But DPS isn’t the only one swimming in taxpayer money. The Democrats pulled in 5 million, New Serbian Democracy 4 million, and the Europe Now movement almost 4 million euros. Together, political parties have sucked over 35 million euros from state and local budgets in just four years! And what do we get in return? Transparency and accountability are on the brink of collapse. MANS has clearly pointed out this mess, but politicians seem to not care. Is this normal? Is it fair to citizens barely making ends meet? Proposed changes to the party financing law would increase budget allocations from 0.5% to 0.8%, meaning even more money for parties and less for us. Individuals can donate up to 10,000 euros, legal entities up to 40,000 euros — but who’s watching? Does anyone even know where this money goes? This dependence on public funds opens the door to corruption and abuse. If you’re tired of watching your money get flushed into party coffers, it’s time to ask — who do political parties in Montenegro really serve? And you? Ready to stay silent while your cash disappears into party accounts? Or maybe it’s time to speak up and demand real transparency and accountability? Drop your thoughts below — maybe your voice is the spark we need!
