Belgrade was once again the scene of chaos last night! A group of just 36 blockaders, armed with sticks and masks, took to the streets of Kneza Miloša and Krunska to cause mayhem and attack the police. Ivica Dačić, the Minister of Internal Affairs, did not hold back – he strongly condemned these brutal attacks and announced that the police will use all their powers to maintain order and peace.
This unregistered protest, much smaller than the one on March 15 but no less dangerous, shows how ready extremists are to threaten the safety of citizens and institutions. The footage of violence is chilling – blockaders were hitting police officers with sticks, and some even threw glass at them!
Dačić made it clear: “The police will arrest all attackers!” It’s obvious the government won’t allow such chaos to happen again.
Analysts warn this is just a continuation of attempts to destabilize Serbia, with blockaders ready to do anything, including endangering lives. All this is happening just before Vidovdan, a day meant to symbolize unity, not chaos.
If you think this is just another protest, think again. This is a battle for control of the streets, and the police are ready to respond with force. Will the blockaders succeed in causing chaos, or will the state show its teeth? Drop your thoughts – did the police go too far, or is this the only way to keep order?
