Drunk and Violent: Attack on Bus Driver in Čačak Sparks Outrage and Concern

An incident in Čačak has left many stunned! M.N. (44) from Ivanjica, completely drunk, physically attacked bus driver Z.M. at the bus station. It all happened when the drunk man tried to board the bus on the Belgrade–Ivanjica route. The driver, concerned for the safety of passengers, tried to stop him. Instead of calming down, the man from Ivanjica struck the driver with his hand holding a mobile phone, which fell to the ground. When the driver tried to retrieve the phone, the attacker hit him again, causing minor injuries including a nose injury.

The court clearly stated that the attacker was aware of his actions despite being under the influence of alcohol and convicted him for the deliberate commission of a criminal act. The incident happened in front of passengers, raising further concerns about safety in public transport.

Such cases are not isolated incidents but an alarming signal about the problem of drunk and violent passengers in public transport. Drivers are often on the front line but lack the means to effectively protect themselves from such attacks.
