Apple’s New App Store Rules in the EU: Revolution or Rip off?

Apple just dropped a bomb on the EU app market! After the EU imposed strict Digital Markets Act (DMA) rules, Apple rolled out controversial new changes to the App Store. EU developers can now freely advertise digital products and services outside their apps and include multiple links inside apps. But wait, there’s a new fee – 5% on purchases made outside the App Store, plus an extra 2% if the buyer is a new user within the first six months! Apple is introducing a two-tier commission system: tier 1 with just 5% commission but no auto-updates or analytics, and tier 2 with 13% commission but all the perks. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney immediately called tier 1 a “mockery of fair competition.” Is Apple really changing the rules to protect users or just to make more money? The EU has already proposed a multi-million euro fine for anti-competitive practices, and now it will monitor how these changes affect consumers. This isn’t just a rule change – it’s a battle for control over the digital market! What do you think? Has Apple finally bowed to pressure or is it just pulling the wool over our eyes? Drop a comment and let the debate begin!
