Seasonal Beach Jobs: Is a 2 Euro Salary Worth the Hell Under the Sun?

Imagine a job on the beach in Brela – sun, sea, refreshing air, often food provided. Sounds like a dream, right? But wait, the pay is only 1 euro per hour! Yes, you read that right. One employer posted on the Facebook group “Looking for job/Offering job Dalmatia” initially offering 1 euro for a job managing pedal boats and sunbeds, and when no one took the offer, he raised it to 2 euros. Did anyone accept? Unknown.

But let’s be real – the job is far from easy. A young man who worked a similar job describes it as exhausting: working from 7 AM to 7 PM, under 40-degree heat, constantly folding and unfolding heavy wooden sunbeds, managing pedal boats, and dealing with a lot of stress.

Not to mention the boss yelling, having to argue with kids who damage the pedal boats, guests who place themselves right next to the sunbeds, and no privacy since the beach is public property.

For all that, 2 euros an hour sounds more like an insult than a salary. This is the real picture of seasonal jobs on the Adriatic – hell under the sun for a miserable wage. If you think seasonal beach jobs are easy and fun, think again.

Is this fair to young people looking for work? Is this a way to exploit workers? Share your thoughts, maybe you have similar experiences or know someone who went through this. Let the debate begin!
