Imagine this: Milan Čanak, son of a high school teacher and former leader of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina, spent eight hours in police custody in Inđija, with no explanation! Yes, you read that right — eight hours! It all started when his vehicle was stopped, and he underwent a breathalyzer test and a search lasting about 45 minutes. But that’s not the end — when they found a bulletproof vest, they took him to the station where he spent four hours without any reason, no charges, no lawyer. The police confiscated his bulletproof vest, pepper spray, metal detector, and license plate, but found no elements of any offense or crime. Čanak claims that Vučić’s regime is personally responsible for threats against him and his family. To make matters worse, after four hours at the station, he was taken by people who identified themselves as BIA agents but did not show any ID. Čanak deliberately stayed silent for four hours, refusing to talk without identification and a lawyer. After being released, he was told that a search of his apartment in Novi Sad would be conducted. Čanak said he will consult a lawyer about further steps. This is not just one man’s case — it’s a chilling sign that Vučić’s regime uses police and security services to intimidate and pressure the opposition and their families. If you think this is normal, think again. Police torture and intimidation have become everyday reality, and justice is a distant dream. What do you think? Democracy or dictatorship in disguise?
