Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, has openly shared a story that sheds new light on the student protests that have been ongoing for seven months. He revealed how he helped a man get a job in the state system with a salary of 5 euros, and that same man is now protesting against him. Vučić emphasized that gratitude in politics, and in life, does not last long—a lesson he learned as a veteran.
Vučić warned that there will be many more arrests and that he has seen a direct call for violence and attacks on the police, which he described as a “green light” for violence. He clearly stated that he will not yield to those who want to destroy Serbia. The president also predicted that violence at the protests will start between 8:45 PM and 9:45 PM, which he confirmed after the Vidovdan awards ceremony.
The protests culminated in violence in Belgrade, where police used tear gas and detained 77 people, including a minor. Dozens were injured, and footage of the clashes sparked public outrage. Citizens called Vučić a traitor, while students and demonstrators declared they will not be intimidated.
At the same time, actor Tihomir Stanić expressed shame over the actions of the authorities, especially regarding the detention and deportation of Montenegrin director Danilo Marunović, which caused further tensions. Stanić criticized the government for authoritarian moves and the fear prevailing among citizens.
All in all, Serbia is on the brink of chaos, with a president who refuses to back down, students who won’t give up, and violence threatening to escalate. Will this drama have an end, or will it only intensify? Drop a comment if you think Vučić is right or if you believe the protests are justified—or just throw in a sarcastic meme to lighten up this madness.
