Power Outage Madness: Montenegro Plunged into Darkness Again for Planned Maintenance!

Montenegro in the Dark: The Never-Ending Planned Power Outages!

Ready for another day without electricity? If you live in Montenegro, you better be! It seems planned power outages have become our new normal.

Where and When? On Tuesday, from early morning until afternoon, the entire country will face power cuts. Podgorica, Nikšić, Kotor, Ulcinj, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Plav, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Žabljak, Šavnik – the list is as long as a New Year’s wish list, and nobody wants to be on it!

In Podgorica, for example, power will be off from 8:30 AM to 3 PM at the National Security Agency building, and in Nikšić from 8:15 AM in Papovina and Sjenokosi. In Kotor, outages will last from 7:09 AM to 9:10 AM, and in Ulcinj from 8:15 AM to 9:14 AM. And that’s not all – in many places, power will be off for hours, all in the name of “better and safer electricity supply.”

Why is this happening? Of course, it’s all for network improvements. But how many times do we have to endure these multi-hour outages? Can’t these works be done at night or during low consumption periods?

Is this normal? In an era when the world is pushing towards renewable energy and smart grids, Montenegro still faces these problems. People are angry because their lives and work literally come to a halt. Imagine how frustrating this is for those working from home, businesses, hospitals, schools, and other institutions.

What do the authorities say? The Electric Power Company says the works are necessary and will be postponed in case of bad weather. But does anyone ask the citizens how they feel?

Conclusion This is not just a power outage problem. It’s a problem of organization, planning, and respect for citizens. If power must be cut, let’s do it smarter, more efficiently, and with less pain for all of us.

And you? How do you survive these outages? Got any good tricks for living without power? Or maybe a hilarious electricity joke? Share in the comments so we can at least laugh a bit while waiting for the lights to come back on!
