Have you ever thought that justice in Montenegro moves too slowly or even stands still? Well, Jovan Jole Vučurović, a member of the New Serbian Democracy and one of the main fighters of the coalition for the future of Montenegro, not only thinks so but speaks out loud about it! In an interview for Borba, he revealed how the investigative committee, formed to expose the criminal past of the former DPS regime, is delivering results, but the judiciary remains silent. Yes, you read that right — silent!
According to Vučurović, the investigative committee is a bullseye. He claims that citizens finally have the opportunity to hear the truth about how the former dictatorial regime functioned and what methods it used to deal with political opponents. But while the truth is slowly coming to light, the prosecution is pretending not to hear. Vučurović clearly stated that this is extremely suspicious and that the coalition will take a clear stance if this continues.
What’s worse? DPS MPs, from the former regime, are trying to devalue the committee’s work and protect those responsible for crimes. Vučurović sharply criticized them, saying these are desperate moves that only show internal fear within DPS ranks, especially with former president Milo Đukanović.
Vučurović claims that Đukanović is in great fear and allegedly ordered his officials to try to devalue the committee’s work because it is clear that all misdeeds can be linked to him and the octopus he led.
He also emphasized that justice cannot be stopped and that the formation of the investigative committee is an act of responsibility and a fight for European values. The committee was initiated by the ZBCG coalition, especially Andrija Mandić, as a strong message in the fight against crime and corruption, which is a prerequisite for closing chapters 23 and 24 and the path to the EU.
Although it is possible that Milo Đukanović himself will appear before the committee, Vučurović believes it is much more important that the prosecution and courts deal with him. He added that the complete marginalization or shutdown of DPS would be healing for Montenegro.
So, while the investigative committee does its job and exposes the dark secrets of DPS, the judiciary remains silent, and the former regime fights to keep its positions. Will justice finally prevail, or will it all end as another political show? Only time will tell.
And you? What do you think about this chaos? Is DPS really in panic, or is this just another power game? Drop a comment, let your voice be heard in this judicial soap opera!
