Vučić proudly announced that Serbia will build five times more kilometers of highways and expressways in the last 12 years than in the entire period since World War II! Yes, you read that right — five times more! But while boasting about kilometers of asphalt, investments in industry and job creation are still lagging behind. New factories are announced, but the reality is that Serbia faces a 46% drop in investments compared to last year, due to blockades and destruction in the past seven months. Vučić announced the opening of the Pakovraće-Požega section, as well as high-speed railways Novi Sad-Subotica and Niš-Brestovac, which will allow travel speeds up to 200 km/h. However, while the railways open, investors are pulling out because labor is becoming more expensive and working conditions are inadequate. The president also highlighted that Serbia’s national airline reached a record number of destinations — 80, which is impressive, but the question remains how much this contributes to real economic development. Vučić received a letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the export of rare earth elements, which is an important international success, but it remains to be seen how this will affect the domestic economy. Overall, while Serbia boasts infrastructure projects, citizens wonder where the real benefits are — new jobs, better living standards, and a stable economy. What do you think — are kilometers of asphalt enough to call Serbia successful? Or is this just another fairy tale for the people? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for and who’s against!
