China Dominates Electric Vehicle Market While The World Trails Behind

The electric vehicle market exploded globally, and China is the undisputed champion with a staggering 31.4 million EVs! While the US and Germany try to keep up with 6.4 and 2.6 million respectively, Chinese manufacturer BYD leads the pack with 10.6 million electric cars, far ahead of Tesla and Volkswagen. Last year, the number of electric vehicles grew by about a third, reaching 55.8 million, according to the German ZSW institute. But it’s not all smooth sailing – these cars are among the most frequently breaking down, with a whopping 30% failure rate! Norway, famous for its rapid shift to electric mobility, has just over a million EVs. Thanks to its massive market and government subsidies, Chinese manufacturers are rapidly conquering the global market, while Europe and America lag behind. BMW and Mercedes-Benz are the only German makers in the top ten, with 2.5 and 1.6 million vehicles respectively. The institute expects even more Chinese manufacturers to break into the top ten in the coming years. Thought Tesla was the king? Think again – BYD is now on top! Will the rest of the world catch up or stay stuck in the dust? Drop your thoughts below, maybe you’ve got the secret sauce to shake things up!
