Crisis Alert in Užice: Skilled Worker Shortage Threatens Public Administration!

Užice is on the brink of collapse, and the culprit is clear – a severe shortage of skilled workers in public administration! Snežana Paunović from the Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government openly admitted the situation is alarming. The vast majority of public administration employees are nearing retirement, and young professionals are running away. Zlatibor district, the largest by territory, is especially hit hard by this crisis.

“The conditions are stricter than they should be, and the scattered geography only makes things worse,” says Paunović. The ministry plans to put in extra effort to motivate young people to apply for the vacant jobs. But is that enough?

Imagine – dozens, maybe hundreds of jobs remain unfilled while retirees slowly step down. Who will take over their duties? Will public administration soon become a shadow of its former efficiency? This is not just a problem for Užice or Zlatibor district, but a warning sign for the whole country.

While the government struggles with this issue, citizens wonder: where are the young experts? Does the state offer enough to keep them? Or will public administration soon be a place where only those with no other options work?

If you think this is just another boring political story, think again. This is a crisis that could affect us all. So, what do you think – will Serbia manage to solve this problem, or are we heading for a total collapse of public administration? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for saving it and who’s ready to give up!
