Mali: More Important Than Ever to Preserve Peace and Build Serbia Today

Peace or Chaos? Mali and Vučić Take Center Stage on Vidovdan!

Vidovdan, a day etched deep in Serbian history, did not pass quietly this year. Instead, it sparked political fireworks and messages that will be talked about for a long time. Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Siniša Mali didn’t hold back: “Today, more than ever, it is crucial to preserve peace, stability, and continue building a better Serbia.” Is this just lip service or genuine concern for the future?

At the central state ceremony in Kruševac, a place symbolizing Serbian pride and history, Mali was surrounded by top military and government officials. The Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, army commanders—all laid wreaths at the monument to Kosovo heroes. The atmosphere was thick with patriotism but also uncertainty.

Meanwhile, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, known for his bluntness, posted on Instagram: “Vidovdan at work. Honor, pride, happy holiday.” But he didn’t stop at greetings. Vučić warned about planned student protests, clearly stating that violence will not be tolerated and expecting trouble to start in the evening. “People, don’t worry, but I take this chance to fatherly ask them not to do foolish things they’ll regret for life,” the president said.

These two events highlight just how tense the situation in Serbia is. On one side, the state elite calls for peace and stability; on the other, they fear possible clashes and protests. Vidovdan, symbolizing Serbian struggle and sacrifice, has become a symbol of political tension this year.

Will Serbia manage to keep the peace and continue building a better future, or will it face a new wave of unrest? One thing is clear—this Vidovdan won’t be forgotten easily. What do you think? Are these calls for peace sincere or just political theater? Drop a comment and let the people’s voice be heard!
