Petar Petković on Vidovdan in Kosovo and Metohija: Serbian National Backbone Under Pressure!
Vidovdan, that mythical day which has been the backbone of Serbian national identity for centuries, was met this year in Kosovo and Metohija under immense pressure and restrictions. Petar Petković, director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, spares no words describing how the authorities in Priština have been forbidding Serbs for two years from freely marking this important holiday.
“Vidovdan is the Serbian moral backbone! Without it, our people would not have survived numerous historical trials,” Petković declares, emphasizing that this holiday is far more important than daily politics and unites Serbs around enduring national values.
But what is happening on the ground? Anti-Serb campaigns and absurd bans on displaying Serbian symbols during the holiday have become routine. “Nowhere in the democratic world is there such a restrictive regime for celebrating national holidays as is the case in Kosovo and Metohija,” Petković angrily notes.
Despite the atmosphere of pressure and provocations, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and the Serbian state remain an unwavering support for the Serbian people in Kosovo. Petković believes Vidovdan will be marked peacefully and with dignity, despite all the traps the Albin Kurti regime prepares every year.
This holiday is not just a day of remembrance but a symbol of survival and unity of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. In times when Serbian identity in these areas is being suppressed, Vidovdan remains a beacon reminding of courage, faith, and perseverance.
So, what do you think? Will the Serbian people manage to preserve their identity and dignity in Kosovo and Metohija? Or will the pressures and bans eventually take away another piece of their freedom? Drop a comment, let’s hear all sides of the story!
