Belgrade in Chaos: Blockades, Stones, and a Harsh Police Crackdown
Last night, Belgrade looked more like a war zone than the capital of Serbia. Blockades on roads, containers and tires placed right in the middle of streets, stones flying at police and the offices of the Serbian Progressive Party – all this caused total chaos and traffic collapse.
The police reacted quickly and professionally, removing all blockades overnight. Several people were detained for attacking and insulting police officers, and one police vehicle was damaged. Still, by morning, traffic normalized, and public transport is slowly returning to normal.
The president of the Serbian Progressive Party, Miloš Vučević, sharply condemned the violence of the blockers, calling them angry and powerless. He stated this was a failed “color revolution” and that he would not allow citizens to become hostages of the political ambitions of violent people. Vučević called on the authorities to react urgently and enable the normal functioning of the city.
Meanwhile, political analysts and the public are watching the situation closely as Belgrade’s streets slowly return to normal, but with caution to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Why is all this happening?
It’s clear that political motives and attempts to destabilize the state lie behind the blockades. Violence and chaos are not ways to solve problems, but apparently, some think otherwise. The police have shown they are ready to act, but the question is how long they can keep things under control if such protests continue.
Conclusion
Last night, Belgrade showed how fragile peace is in our society. Blockades, violence, and political tensions are a dangerous mix. If we don’t want to see our city sink into chaos, it’s time for everyone to think about the consequences of their actions. So, what do you think? Is this just the beginning or the end of an era of protests? Drop a comment and let your voice be heard!
