Chaos in Belgrade: Police Break Up Blockades, Students and Citizens Refuse to Back Down!

Belgrade turned into a battlefield last night and into the early morning! Students and citizens blocked key traffic routes, including bridges and intersections, protesting against the arrest of students and police actions. The police responded swiftly and decisively – they removed all blockades overnight and detained several people for disturbing public order and attacking police officers. One police vehicle was even damaged! While authorities claim traffic is slowly returning to normal, students and citizens vow not to back down and to continue the fight.

The protests spread across Serbia – from Belgrade, through Novi Sad, to Smederevo and other cities. The Gazela Bridge, Pančevo Bridge, the plateau in front of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and many other key points were blocked. Police arrested at least six students, and one high school student from Valjevo was detained for social media posts.

Interior Minister Ivica Dačić sharply condemned attacks on police and called for maintaining peace, while students say the escalation is not the end but the beginning of even fiercer protests. Students claim some were prevented from reaching temporary hospitals where injured people were treated, further fueling tensions.

This is not just a clash between police and protesters – it’s a fight for justice, freedom of expression, and the dignity of young people who refuse to be silenced. While the authorities try to calm the situation, the streets are burning, and society is divided between supporting the students and demanding order and law.

If you think this is just another protest, think again. This is a battle that will shape Serbia’s future. So, what about you? Are you for peace or chaos? Or maybe a bit of both? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, and watch the drama unfold – because this is just the beginning!
