Shock and Sorrow in the Art World: Petar Mošić Has Passed Away!
The Serbian art scene has lost one of its brightest stars! Petar Mošić, a painter who left an indelible mark on contemporary art, suddenly passed away in Belgrade. Yes, you read that right – suddenly!
Petar was no ordinary artist. He completed his doctoral art studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade under the mentorship of Prof. Anđelka Bojović. His work was so impressive that he held 20 solo exhibitions and over a hundred group exhibitions across the country and abroad.
He was the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Igor Belohlavek award at the 65th October Salon in Šabac, the Ecce Homo award in Kranj, the Momčilo Momo Kapor Foundation painting award, and the Golden Palette at the Spring ULUS exhibition. His works are part of many public and private collections, including museums in Herzegovina, Srem, Kragujevac, as well as corporate and hotel spaces like the Courtyard by Marriott in Belgrade.
But that’s not all! Petar was an active participant in international art residencies, from Belgium to Hungary, and his works were showcased at prestigious art fairs like the Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam, where his pieces were selected among the best by expert juries.
His sudden departure is an irreplaceable loss for the Serbian art scene. Everyone who knew him – friends, collaborators, and art lovers – were left in shock and deep sorrow.
Petar was also a member of the Council of the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and collaborated with the National Museum of Rwanda, spreading artistic knowledge and cooperation beyond borders.
This artist embodied talent, dedication, and creativity. His death feels like Belgrade has lost a part of its soul.
In a world where art is often undervalued, Petar Mošić was a beacon lighting the way for many. His works and spirit will live forever.
