Chaos in Belgrade: Students Block the City, Police Respond, Traffic in Collapse!

Belgrade was thrown into total chaos yesterday and last night due to student blockades that paralyzed traffic at key city points. Bridges, intersections, and major roads were blocked, and public transport nearly came to a halt. The police had to intervene overnight to remove the blockades, detaining several people for disturbing public order and attacking police officers. One police vehicle was even damaged. Students, along with groups of citizens supporting them, blocked intersections at locations like Gazela, Autokomanda, Vuk Monument, Fontana, New Belgrade, and Zemun. Traffic is slowly normalizing, but heavy congestion and delays in public transport persist, with passengers waiting up to an hour for the first departures. Students from Niš were also arrested, including one who was forcibly detained without official identification, sparking further protests and public outrage. The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the police acted professionally and will continue to take all measures to maintain public order. This situation has sparked heated reactions in the public, with many wondering how long these conflicts and blockades paralyzing Serbia’s capital will last. If you struggled to get to work or university this morning, you’re not alone – Belgrade was in a total traffic collapse due to student protests and police interventions. So, what do you think – are the students right, or has this gone too far? Drop a comment and let’s see which side you’re on in this traffic drama!
