Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is gearing up for a massive expansion!
Did you know that our main airport is about to get three new gates and four new aircraft stands? Yes, you read that right! Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is not just expanding; it’s preparing for the future and an increase in passenger traffic.
What exactly is being built?
The plan is to expand the existing terminal building with three additional gates – C15, C16, and C17 – which will increase the C wing’s area by an additional 18 square meters, totaling 45 square meters of expansion. Including this and previous works, the airport has already increased its total area by 93 square meters and now has 12 gates, totaling 31, as well as 11 new aircraft stands, totaling 38.
Why does this matter?
This is not just a regular upgrade. The airport is preparing for the specialized Expo exhibition, so the infrastructure needs to be top-notch. Additionally, the expansion will allow better organization of passenger boarding and disembarking, reduce congestion, and increase the airport’s capacity.
New services for passengers
But that’s not all! Nikola Tesla Airport is also introducing new hospitality venues. After months of delays, construction of several new cafes on the ground floor of the central building has started, and work on restaurants in the departure zone is nearing completion. Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy a coffee or meal while waiting for your flight.
Taxi revolution
Another great innovation is the introduction of an automated taxi receipt system. Passengers can now get their receipts themselves at self-service machines placed in the baggage claim area and arrivals hall. This will help combat illegal taxi drivers and make the arrival zone safer and more orderly.
What do the authorities say?
The airport is actively cooperating with concessionaires and the ministries of construction, transport, and infrastructure to secure all necessary permits and ensure the works start on time. Talks with the Expo organizing committee are also underway to coordinate access and promote the event.
Conclusion
Nikola Tesla Airport is not only expanding but also modernizing and adapting to the needs of the modern traveler. With new gates, stands, restaurants, and automated systems, soon we will have an airport that can compete with European capitals.
