Europe’s Healthcare System Under Fire: Half of Citizens Say It’s Unfair!
Did you know that only half of Europeans believe their healthcare systems are fair when it comes to access? Yes, you read that right! Despite a stable satisfaction rate of around 58%, the real problem lies in fairness and accessibility. The latest report from the Stada Group, covering over 27,000 respondents from 22 countries including Serbia, reveals shocking insights about health and healthcare in Europe.
Healthcare Workers – The Last Line of Defense
While healthcare systems are under pressure, trust in doctors and pharmacists remains high. A whopping 69% of Europeans trust their doctors, and 58% trust pharmacists, far more than Google (20%) or artificial intelligence (15%). In Serbia, trust in healthcare workers is an impressive 65%. But here’s a shocking trend – 39% of people can already imagine using AI for medical advice instead of visiting a doctor. Is this the beginning of the end for personal doctor-patient contact?
Healthy Lifestyle – Dream or Reality?
Almost all Europeans (96%) consider a healthy lifestyle important, and 72% regularly practice preventive habits like exercise and healthy eating. However, only 51% believe they succeed in living healthily. Spaniards top the list with 68% rating their lifestyle as healthy, which aligns with their longest life expectancy in Europe. The main problem? Lack of motivation, admitted by 41% of respondents.
Finances and Mental Health – The Biggest Barriers
Financial worries and mental health are key factors hindering a healthy lifestyle. Those concerned about finances are less likely to live healthily and more likely to experience burnout syndrome. Two-thirds of Europeans (66%) have experienced burnout symptoms at least once, with women and those under 35 particularly affected.
What Does the Future Hold?
The Stada Group report is the most comprehensive health study in Europe, providing valuable insights for future innovations and better decision-making in healthcare. But the question remains – will Europe overcome financial and motivational barriers to ensure a fair and accessible healthcare system for all?
