Scandal at Montenegrin Shipping: Who Will Pay Half a Million Dollars for the Kotor Ship Breakdowns?

The Kotor Ship Stuck in America Due to Breakdowns, Half a Million Dollars in Costs Hanging Like a Sword of Damocles!

Did you know that the ship Kotor, the pride of Montenegrin Shipping, is currently stuck in the American port of Savannah? Yes, you read that right! Due to technical breakdowns and defects, this ship cannot set sail until millions in port service and repair costs are paid. And how much is that? Over half a million dollars just for port services, and the total repair costs for the company’s ships have already exceeded 1.4 million euros!

Who is to blame?

The shareholders’ assembly of Montenegrin Shipping dismissed the old board of directors, headed by Jovo Lazarević, and appointed a new one. But will this solve the problem? The director of Barska Plovidba, Filip Radulović, announced criminal charges against unknown persons on suspicion of abuse of office and negligent work. He and the director of Barska Plovidba, Boris Mihailović, claim that the information about the condition of the ships was false and that the situation is much worse than it appeared.

Was the Kotor ship’s overhaul regular?

Three years ago, the Kotor ship supposedly underwent a regular overhaul in a Turkish port. However, experts doubt the regularity of that overhaul, as the breakdowns that appeared now are, according to them, impossible if the overhaul was done properly.

One million euros in aid and what about that money?

Barska Plovidba helped Montenegrin Shipping with one million euros to avoid bankruptcy. So far, 300 thousand euros have been paid, and the rest is expected by the end of the year. But instead of investing in ships, it seems the money went to solving problems that have now surfaced. Is this just a coincidence or something much worse?

Who will pay the bill?

The executive director of Montenegrin Shipping, Vladimir Tadić, clearly stated that the ship cannot set sail until all port fees are paid, which are extremely high in America. But does Montenegrin Shipping have the money for that? The answer is clear: no! Tadić appealed to the authorities for help, but the law on state aid control imposes restrictions.

What’s next?

The inspection found deficiencies, and the deadline for their removal is today, when Bureau Veritas inspectors will come again for control. If the problems are not resolved, the Kotor ship will remain trapped, and Montenegrin Shipping in even bigger trouble.

Conclusion

This situation is a complete mess! Millions of euros are at stake, ships are breaking down, and those responsible are being replaced and blaming each other. Will anyone take responsibility? Will Montenegrin Shipping survive this crisis? Or will we watch the Kotor ship and other vessels sink into debts and problems?

If you have an opinion about this shipwreck in Montenegrin Shipping, feel free to share it — maybe together we’ll find a solution or at least a good joke about how ships don’t sail, but money disappears!
