Toll Price Hike in Serbia: Who Will Pay the Summer Holiday Bill?

Attention, drivers and travelers in Serbia! Starting July 4th, toll prices in Serbia will increase by 4.2%! As the summer holiday season heats up, the government decides to hit your wallet even harder. The Serbian Roads Authority has not yet officially announced the new prices, but we have calculated approximate amounts. For example, the route from Belgrade to Niš will cost around 147 dinars, which is a few dinars more than before. And if you plan to travel from Subotica to Preševo, get ready to pay more — an increase of 2 dinars! And that’s not all — on 72 toll stations across Serbia, covering nearly 1,000 kilometers of highways, everyone will feel this blow to their pockets.

But wait, there’s some “good” news! If you use an electronic toll tag, you get a 6% discount. And if you drive a Euro 6 engine vehicle or an electric car, the discount is even 10%! But does that really soften the blow? We doubt it, as you will still have to shell out more cash.

This price hike comes at a time when living costs are already high, and the holiday season is just around the corner. Is this the right time for such a decision? Will Serbian citizens and tourists traveling through the country be able to bear this extra cost? Or will many opt for alternative, less safe and less comfortable routes?

While the authorities boast about infrastructure projects and road improvements, ordinary people watch their money slowly vanish from their pockets. What about you? Have you already calculated how much your trip to the sea or visit to relatives will cost? Or are you ready to join the debate? Share your thoughts, because this is not just a number on paper — it’s your money, your holiday, your life!
