Another Faculty in Serbia Ends Blockade – But Student Struggle Goes On!

Looks like something is finally moving in the student blockades in Serbia! After six long months of relentless blockade, the students of the Technological Faculty in Leskovac have decided to end their work stoppage. Yes, you read that right – after half a year, the faculty is reopening, but the students are not giving up! They clearly state: “Ending the blockade is not the end of the fight!” Their demands remain, and the struggle continues.

The blockade started back on December 18 last year, and during this time, students have been tirelessly putting pressure on the authorities. Although they decided to end the blockade due to the impossibility of maintaining it further, their fight for fulfilling their demands is far from over.

But is this just the beginning or the end? While in Belgrade and other cities across Serbia, blockades and protests continue, the students are not backing down. On the streets, they still demand the calling of early parliamentary elections, the release of arrested protesters, and a boycott of the National Assembly’s work.

The police have detained dozens of people in recent days, but this has not stopped the wave of civil disobedience. Students and citizens block intersections, roundabouts, and protests are spreading across the country – from Užice to Subotica, from Novi Sad to Belgrade.

Of course, the political dimension of these protests cannot be ignored. Some claim the blockades were provoked by student arrests, others see them as a pre-planned strategy for destabilization. Politicians and analysts argue, while ordinary people wonder – when will this finally end?

And while the government tries to portray the blockades as harmful and destructive, students and their supporters claim this is a fight for Serbia’s future. A fight that cannot be stopped by simply ending one blockade.

So, dear readers, what do you think? Is the end of the blockade at the Technological Faculty a sign of giving up or a smart tactic? Will the students succeed in achieving their demands, or will this end up as just another protest with no results? Drop a comment, share your story, or just crack a joke about blockades – because, let’s face it, sometimes laughter is the best medicine for political drama!
