Hellish Fire in Vinci: 50 Weekend Houses Burned Down, Locals Desperate!

Yesterday, a massive fire broke out in the weekend settlement of Vinci, located between Veliko Gradište and Golubac, and it is still not fully extinguished. Although the fire was brought under control overnight, unofficial information from the local tourist organization reveals that around 50 weekend houses have been completely destroyed. Firefighting teams, members of the Serbian Army, and military helicopters are tirelessly battling the blaze, but strong winds keep fanning the flames.

Owners of the weekend houses are in tears as they describe their fight against the fiery disaster. One owner shared how locals, armed with shovels and a tool called Tiba, managed to save his house. “Without them, everything would have burned down,” said the visibly shaken man who spent the entire day helping to extinguish the fire. Helicopters arrived late, and many believe that an earlier arrival could have saved many properties.

The fire has also engulfed pine forests and low vegetation, making firefighting efforts even more difficult. Thick smoke makes breathing hard, and staying in the area without protective masks is not recommended. Firefighting and military teams remain on site until the last flame is out. Locals say they do not remember a fire of this scale and are desperate over the extent of the damage.

This disaster is yet another reminder of how unpredictable natural calamities are and how crucial a fast and effective response is. Will the authorities learn from this event, or will we continue to watch homes and property go up in flames?
