Scandals and Fake News on City TV: Otašević Spreads Panic and Breaks Journalism Ethics

Ready for another city TV scandal? Vladimir Otašević, director of the city RTV in Podgorica, is back in the spotlight — and not for good news, but for a full-blown media mess caused by his statements and behavior. After an incident in front of the Podgorica temple, Otašević called the event terrorism without any evidence! Yes, you read that right — terrorism! Not only that, he blamed politicians and journalists, fueling fear and panic in the city. Miloš Mašković, president of the European Alliance club of councilors, couldn’t stay silent and sharply condemned this irresponsible move, pointing out that Otašević acts against journalistic ethics and professional standards.

But this isn’t the first time city media have caused chaos. Remember January 15, when the city portal published a fake news story about a murder in Cetinje, which the police quickly denied? Otašević even changed and eventually deleted his posts about the incident several times, confirming how reckless and irresponsible his approach was.

Otašević doesn’t inform the public; he uses his position to spread fear and manipulate citizens, following the recipe of Dragan J. Vučićević, owner of the Serbian Informer. Is this media manipulation or something worse? Mayor Saša Mujović must ask himself how many more scandals need to happen before he reacts and stops this media disaster.

In a world where trust in media is low, such actions only further erode credibility and fuel divisions. Otašević and city RTV have become an example of how not to do journalism — without fact-checking, with sensationalism and political vendettas. If you enjoy watching media turn into tools of fear and manipulation, keep watching city channels. If not, maybe it’s time to ask — who do these media really serve?

And hey, if you have a favorite city TV scandal or have forgotten some of these gems, feel free to share in the comments. Let’s see who’s who in this media circus!
