Yesterday, the Bundestag became the stage for a scandal that will not be forgotten anytime soon! On the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, instead of respect and remembrance, far-right AfD party members dared to question whether it was even a genocide. Yes, you read that right – in a country that has itself endured some of the darkest moments in history, some politicians have the audacity to deny international court rulings!
While left-wing MPs, including those from SPD, clearly showed their disapproval by turning their backs on the AfD speaker, he uttered a phrase that caused an uproar in the chamber: “Srebrenica is a reason for us to stop multiculturalism before it’s too late.” Is it really possible that in the 21st century, someone uses the tragedy of thousands of innocent people as a political tool to spread hate?
Foreign Minister Johan Vadepuhl couldn’t hide his disappointment and immediately left the podium, making it clear that such statements are unacceptable. “I regret the victims, their families, especially the Bosnian ambassador Damir Arnaut present here, for being subjected to such debates,” Vadepuhl said, affirming that Germany recognizes the massacre as genocide.
This event once again showed how crucial it is to fight against revisionism and denial of history. Will we allow such shameful statements to be repeated? Or will we stand up for truth and remembrance?
If you’re as fed up with these political games as we are, drop a comment below and share your thoughts – is it time to finally put AfD on the shameful pedestal, or will such statements become the new normal? Silence is complicity!
