Ana Brnabić on Blockades, Thompson, and Fascism: Serbia Will Not Stay Silent!

Blockades are over, but the war over Thompson and fascist symbols is just beginning! Ana Brnabić, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, leaves no doubt – the blockaders no longer exist, and the decent, normal Serbia continues the fight against fascist tendencies rising again in Europe. Ready for some shocking facts? While half a million people in Zagreb celebrate a concert by Marko Perković Thompson, a singer known for Ustaše salutes and relativizing crimes, Europe stays silent! Yes, you read that right – silent! Brnabić clearly stated that the European Union does not react to the glorification of Nazi symbols in Croatia, an EU member, even when the concert features the chant “Za dom spremni” – a salute equivalent to the Nazi “Sieg Heil.” And this in a city where the Jasenovac concentration camp was located, where Serbs, Jews, and Roma were killed, and Serbian children were made into soap! Shocking, isn’t it? But that’s not all. Brnabić condemned attacks on journalists in Serbia, emphasizing that such attacks must not be ignored because without media freedom, there is no real fight against fascism. What about the blockades in Belgrade? For the past eight months, students and citizens blocked streets demanding justice and truth, but now, according to Brnabić, the blockaders no longer exist. Students were expelled from dormitories, threatened, and beaten, but some, like Miloš Pavlović, managed to pass exams and beat the system. Investigations into the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station are ongoing, and Brnabić revealed that people who held top positions in the Serbian Railway Infrastructure are now under investigation, while others have been under house arrest for months. All this while fascism continues to be celebrated in Croatia, and Europe remains silent. Ana Brnabić stated that Serbia will not allow the crimes against Serbs to be forgotten and will fight against any attempts to relativize and justify fascist crimes. This is not just a political fight; it is a fight for truth, justice, and memory. And you? What do you think about Europe’s silence and the celebration of fascism in the 21st century? Is it time for all of us to wake up and react? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just say – are you shocked or have you gotten used to such news? Remember, history teaches us, but only if we listen!
