It’s official! Andrej Đurić, the powerful defender from Red Star Belgrade, is now a confirmed player of Swedish champions Malmo. Yes, you read that right – the 21-year-old center-back signed his contract in June and is ready to be one of the main pillars for Malmo in their Champions League qualifiers. Red Star earned around 1 million euros from his transfer, and the young defender is more than happy with the salary he secured at Malmo.
Đurić left Red Star’s training camp in Austria and immediately joined his new club, where he was welcomed with great enthusiasm. The official Malmo website clearly shows the club’s faith in this young Serbian, seeing him as a key player for their future. “I feel incredibly excited,” Đurić said. “I come to a club with high ambitions, something drives me. I grew up playing under pressure in Belgrade, at Red Star, and now I want to show who I am on the pitch.”
The young defender is known for his determination, aggression, and willingness to engage in duels and go for the ball. But he’s not just a defender – he likes to be involved in the play and contribute with accurate passes. He’s already familiar with Malmo’s tradition and fans, and he especially likes the sky-blue color of the club. “It will be fun to play here,” Đurić concluded.
Standing tall and strong at over 190 cm and just 21 years old, Đurić played nine matches in the spring part of the season for Red Star, starting all of them. He formed a defensive partnership with young Veljko Milosavljević and experienced Radet Krunić. He went through all youth levels at Red Star, serving as captain, and also played for the youth national teams of Serbia and Montenegro.
This is a big step for the young Serbian and for Red Star, which has shown it can sell talented players for serious money. And Malmo? They get a player hungry for success and ready to fight for every inch on the field. If you thought this was the end, think again – this is just the beginning!
