The massive fires raging near Skopje and the Blace border crossing in recent days are not just accidents caused by human carelessness. Stojanče Angelov, director of the Rescue Directorate, openly states there is solid evidence these fires were deliberately set! Yes, you read that right — someone is intentionally lighting these fires, and not just once, but multiple times!
At the fire site near Čučersandevo, close to Blace, firefighters found pallets soaked in gasoline, a clear sign of arson. And if that wasn’t enough, another attempt to start a fire was spotted this morning on the opposite side of the road — luckily, it was stopped in time.
This situation sheds a whole new, very worrying light on the whole story. Are we witnessing a coordinated attack on nature and public safety? Young volunteer Ivan Kukunovski, who bravely fought the fire for 24 hours, ended up in a toxicology clinic after inhaling smoke. His condition is stable, but this is just one example of how dangerous and threatening this is to people.
Although the fire has been contained and, thankfully, no houses were burned, the question remains: who and why is setting these fires? Is this just the beginning of something much bigger and more dangerous? Director Angelov urges citizens to be extremely cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately.
