The markets in Asia and the Pacific mostly rose after Wall Street recorded an increase, despite symbolic Chinese tariffs on American imports. Chinese tariffs cover only 12% of total imports from the USA, and analysts believe that the risk of a trade war is lower than expected, although the possibility of escalation still exists. The CSI300 index of mainland China recorded a decline, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi rose. Indian indices also rose in anticipation of a rate cut.
