Average salaries in Serbia are finally rising, but is this a reason to celebrate or just sarcastic applause? In the first four months of 2024, gross wages jumped 11.7%, and net wages 7% in real terms compared to last year. In April alone, salaries were 13.1% higher gross and 8.7% higher net than the previous year! The median net salary is 83,000 dinars, meaning half of employees earn less than that – but hey, programmers still hold the crown with an average over 200,000 dinars! So while most are barely making ends meet, a minority enjoys dream paychecks. Is this real progress or just statistical smoke and mirrors?
