Azerbaijan Furious at Russia Over Killings and Arrests in Yekaterinburg

Azerbaijan Furious at Russia Over Killings and Arrests in Yekaterinburg!

Is this a new diplomatic scandal or just another proof that minority rights in Russia are ignored? Azerbaijan has raised its voice—and it’s loud! After dozens of Azerbaijani citizens were arrested in Yekaterinburg and two were brutally killed, Baku decided not to stay silent.

What happened in Yekaterinburg?

Friday in Yekaterinburg was far from ordinary. Over 50 Azerbaijani citizens were detained in connection with the murder of trader Yunis Pashayev, who was fatally stabbed with a kitchen knife. The main suspects, brothers Huseyn and Ziyadin Safarov, were arrested shortly after the crime. But things got worse—two detainees suddenly fell ill, and during the police operation, two Azerbaijanis were brutally killed, while others suffered serious injuries.

Azerbaijan is not staying quiet!

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador in Baku and lodged a strong protest. In response to what they call deliberate and targeted killings and ethnic violence against Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg, Azerbaijan canceled all cultural events involving Russian state or private organizations. Additionally, a planned visit by an Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation to Moscow was canceled.

Who’s to blame?

Azerbaijan claims Russian security forces are responsible for the brutality and violence. Russian media report arrests and investigations, but Azerbaijan demands justice and accountability. This is not just an incident—it’s a matter of human rights, ethnic security, and international relations.

What’s next?

Canceling cultural events and diplomatic visits is just the beginning. Azerbaijan sends a clear message: it will not tolerate violence against its citizens, even abroad. And Russia? Will it face consequences or will this remain buried in diplomatic shadows?

Conclusion

This case shines a harsh light on serious minority issues in Russia and tensions between the two countries. Will justice be served or will this be another forgotten incident? One thing is clear—Azerbaijan has shown it won’t stay silent.

What do you think? Is Russia over the top or is Azerbaijan being too dramatic? Drop a comment and let the people’s voice be heard!
