Imagine this – a store chain that has been synonymous with traditional Bavarian clothing for decades is now on the brink of extinction! The last five branches of this long-standing giant will close their doors by the end of October this year. Yes, you read that right – bankruptcy has been officially confirmed, and saving the business was impossible despite intense efforts. Director Katrin Proft openly admits they failed to develop a sustainable recovery plan, even though traditional clothing has experienced a true renaissance among the youth. How come? The pandemic, a drop in customers, and skyrocketing staff and overhead costs simply crushed them. The owner’s family is deeply saddened, and 31 employees in the five remaining branches in German towns Berchtesgaden, Bad Reichenhall, Reit im Winkl, Ruhpolding, and Traunstein will lose their jobs. The only bright spot is the Salzburg, Austria branch, which will be taken over by a sister company. In August, a final clearance sale with significant discounts is expected – the last chance to buy pieces that have adorned Bavarian streets for years. Is this the end of traditional fashion or just a painful reminder that even the most beautiful things can’t survive without money? Share your thoughts, maybe you know how to save such symbols of tradition!
