Belgrade Wastes €85,000 on Digital Billboards While Citizens Stare Into Space!
Introduction: Belgrade and Its LED Obsession Belgrade plans to spend around €85,000 over the next year renting LED and LCD advertising panels. Yes, you read that right – €85,000! The city will use dozens of digital billboards at busy locations to promote its projects. Locations include the Albanija Palace, Terazije, Gazela Bridge, Ušće Shopping Center, Autokomanda, Zeleni Venac, Slavija, and even Nikola Tesla Airport with seven screens. All this so citizens can watch digital ads lasting at least a week, with messages broadcast at least seven times per campaign on each screen.
How Much Money and For What? The tender for this service was announced by the city secretariat for defense and emergency situations, with an estimated value of 10 million dinars including VAT, which is about €85,000. The price includes all costs – from broadcasting to installation and creative design. A total of 52 campaigns are planned throughout the year.
Is This a Smart Investment? While Belgrade boasts about digital billboards, many citizens wonder – is this really the best way to spend money? At a time when many city problems remain unresolved, from traffic jams to communal issues, investing in expensive digital ads seems like throwing money away.
What Do Citizens Say? Some comments on social media have already appeared, and voices of dissatisfaction are growing. “Why not invest in better infrastructure or public transport?” many ask. Others joke that the digital billboards will be the only light in the city, not because of beauty, but because they will shine like Las Vegas.
Conclusion: Digital Billboards or Waste of Money? Belgrade is ready to spend tens of thousands of euros on digital billboards to promote city projects. But will it really benefit citizens or will the money go down the drain? While we wait to see the results, maybe it’s time to ask – who really needs this?
If you have your own take on this digital spending, feel free to drop a comment. Maybe your critique or joke will be the brightest spot on those billboards!
