Belgrade Parking Madness: Old Town Redefines Zones, New Belgrade Gets 100 Spots, Drivers Go Crazy!

Belgrade Parking Madness: Old Town Redefines Zones, New Belgrade Gets 100 Spots, Drivers Go Crazy!

Old Town Changes the Game Starting July 14, drivers in Belgrade’s Old Town better forget their old parking habits! The Traffic Secretariat has decided to redefine parking zones in this municipality. Instead of the old red zone, three new zones are introduced: purple, red, and white. The purple zone is expanded and now covers part of the former red zone, but with a huge surprise – the maximum parking time is only 30 minutes! Yes, you read that right, half an hour! And not just on weekdays, but also on weekends – Saturdays from 7 AM to 10 PM and Sundays from 7 AM to 2 PM. So if you thought you could park and enjoy a coffee or a stroll, think again. Extensions are possible, but who will track and pay for that?

New Belgrade Means Business – 100 New Parking Spots! While Old Town tightens the rules, New Belgrade boasts 100 reconstructed parking spots on Gramsci Street, at the corner with Klara Cetkin Street. The works are finished and promise more efficient and safer parking. This is part of a bigger plan – in the last two years, the municipality has arranged a total of 1,000 parking spots, all reconstructed or newly built. So while Old Town complicates things, New Belgrade tries to solve traffic jams and safety issues.

Who’s Crazy Here? Drivers have already started complaining. How to navigate the new zones? Will fines fly like crazy? Is 30 minutes parking in the city center even realistic? And why do rules differ from one municipality to another? These are the questions troubling Belgraders.

Conclusion Belgrade loves to complicate things, and parking is probably the most complicated part of city life. With new zones in Old Town and renovated spots in New Belgrade, it’s clear drivers must be ready for changes and adapt to new rules. Or switch to public transport – if you can catch it!

What about you? Have you faced the new parking zones yet? Or maybe already paid a fine for carelessness? Share your stories, maybe together we can survive this parking madness without losing our minds!
